Acrylic Workshop
Tuesdays 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Friday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
An introduction to acrylic painting, this course is suitable for beginners, or as a refresher for those who have not painted for some time. Students will concentrate on developing their perceptual skills through a series of exercises, which will gradually increase in range and complexity. The class will have the opportunity to work from a variety of photo images and still life objects. Several canvases will be completed over the duration of the course.
Pastel Workshop
Fridays 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Explore the versatility of pastel. We’ll cover different supports and papers as well as a variety of techniques including solvent and direct pastel. Through demonstration and practice you’ll gain experience and understanding of this popular medium.
Watercolor Workshop
Wednesday 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Wednesday 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
This course is designed for students who wish to learn the basics of watercolor painting, and also for those who wish to further develop their level of skill and knowledge with this medium. Students will learn color mixing, the use of watercolor brushes and how to paint with the transparency of watercolors. Participants will also explore various techniques such as how to make washes, painting wet-into-wet and resist processes.
Landscape Painting
Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
This course is designed for students who are interested in developing drawing and painting skills in landscape studies. Working from a photo reference, students will be introduced to fundamentals including composition, perspective, fore-/mid-/background and landmark representation, color mixing and paint application to achieve transitions, contrast and sense of depth. Students will paint in pastels or acrylics.
